Meet Your Host
Hello! I’m Sarah Lewis! I’ve been a part of the excellent Monarch Learning Academy community for nearly a year, so when the opportunity came to provide STEAM programming exclusively for more Monarch students, I was excited to combine my passion for education with hands-on, creative engineering experiences.
My Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, along with my experience working in a children's disability and learning center , shaped my belief that every child can succeed when given the right environment, support, and autonomy to grow. I also hold a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and deeply value students developing a lifelong love of learning through meaningful, real-world application and personal interests. Over the past 10 years in education, I’ve been fortunate to teach in schools that emphasized STEM, STEAM, and arts integration, allowing me to train train with partners like ArtsNOW and Dr. Amy Miner, and specialize in connecting STEAM learning across academic subjects and standards.
Throughout my career, I’ve watched students move from struggling with abstract concepts to confidently teaching those same ideas to others and applying them to solve real-world problems through STEAM experiences—especially when traditional teaching methods had not been successful. One moment that especially stayed with me was when a shy student completed a week-long project and proudly declared out loud to the class, “This is the best work I’ve ever done! I’m so proud of myself.” In that moment, I knew STEAM learning was not only life-changing for students, but something I wanted to bring to as many children and families as possible.
STEAMwork Labs was created from my passion to teach STEAM full-time and my desire to bring these opportunities to more students across a wider range of grade levels. My goal is to provide students with uninterrupted time and a dedicated space to create, invent, problem-solve, and build confidence through meaningful hands-on learning.
